FREMONT, CA — April 2011 — Datest, a leading provider of advanced, efficient and quality in-circuit testing solutions, announces that it has been awarded a 2011 NPI Award in the category of Test and Inspection – ICT for the SPEA 4060 Flying Probe Tester. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, April 12, 2011 ceremony that took place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas during IPC APEX 2011.

The 4060 features simultaneous top- and bottom-side probing, allowing PCBAs to be tested without the need to flip the board for re-test on the opposite side. In addition, simultaneous probing on both sides of the printed circuit board assembly can provide higher test coverage. With limited test access becoming more prevalent in today’s designs, the ability to target both sides of a board provides more flexibility in order to meet specific customer requirements.

The new SPEA 4060 incorporates new instrumentation that is designed to increase test accuracy and resolution while increasing measurement speed. The 4060 minimizes the distance between measurement electronics and the device under test by moving the data capture electronics to the probe heads. The new design also reduces signal noise and provides extremely stable test measurements.

SPEA’s new Leonardo Express operating system offers quick and easy test generation with a guided test program development feature. Other features that simplify the development process include automatic test debug and program tuning to assure stable test results.

Commenting on the Award, Datest’s President Robert Boguski, said, “On behalf of our longtime Business Partner SPEA, Datest is thrilled to accept the 2011 NPI Award. This award vindicates Datest’s efforts to advance the cutting-edge of board testing through the adoption of leading technologies, epitomized in the SPEA 4060.”

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
